I found a great deal on a new Drolet HT-3000. I’ve been looking for a stove for my shop for a while now. The Drolet manual that listed clearance to combustibles was confusing. It appears single wall stove pipe needs to be 18 inches from the ceiling. My current chimney opening appears to be less than ideal. I placed a piece of stove pipe into the chimney and measured from the top of the pipe to the ceiling and it was only 9 inches. I’ve been looking at Duravent dvl and see it reduces the clearance to 8 inches. Is it safe and to code to have the duravent pipe 8 inches away from the ceiling?

I thought most doublewall stovepipe had a 6" CTC rating?

Either way, if dvl is rated for 8, and you have 9, good to go

Yup, 6"

I thought 6 inches was from the wall and 8 inches for ceilings, either way I will have an inch to spare. I wasn’t sure if it was code unless the stove manufacturer permitted it be a specified distance.
