I got a great deal on a drolet HT-3000. I purchased selrick double wall stove pipe to meet ceiling clearance. Menards had everything except the masonry adapter. I have one the way. I put it all together today and at first the adjustable double wall pipe would not fit in the chimney flue. With some light tapping it fits very snug. Is this safe or is the masonry adapter required.

The liner has not been installed yet. The current chimney has a clay type liner that appears to be good condition

But it doesn't meet code.
You need an insulated liner and a snout to connect.

Congratulations on the new stove. If the chimney doesn't have 2" clearance all the way up from any combustibles, it needs an insulated liner now to meet code. Hope this is the plan.

Only the inner liner of the double-wall stove pipe should connect to the chimney. You don't want smoke coming back or leaking into the outer jacket.

I’m looking to get my liner installed I got a quote for $1200 (I provide materials) I decided this will be a DIY job. I have the liner, T box and snout. I measured my clay flue opening on the roof and it is 7 1/4 x 7 5/8. My liner did not include an insulation kit. Is this the correct size and type of insulation to get?

A 6" insulated liner will not fit inside those clay liners. The clay will need to be removed. But yes the 1/2" thick insulation kit is correct

I’m not sure if I understand correctly, a 6 inch liner will not fit or a 6 inch liner will not fit with the insulation attached?

The ID of the clay liners is likely too small to pass the combined diameter of the new 6" liner + the insulation.

A 6" liner with appropriate insulation will not fit.
