Well today we have a very strong west wind 25 -30 mph. The stove sits on the NW corner of the house. I got home had a cold firebox and had some back draft issues when I started it so I cracked the closest window. By the way the set up is a Lopi republic 1250 with a straight run of 15ft of chimney, straight through the roof. Once I got things rolling I had some of the hottest firebox temps I have had for the season I believe it was because of the good draw. I got up to let the dog out the back door (east side of the house) to do his job and got some smoke backing up and leaking out the top collar of the telescoping single wall pipe. so after things settled down I tried cracking a door on the west side of the house and opened the back door again. It did not do it this time.
My question is do you think my thoughts that this is caused by a vacuum by me opening the back door? Has anyone seen this before? Should I be concerned by this and should I be doing something different.
Thanks
Scott
