UL 2523 standard is for indoor installed appliances.
It means the appliance meets fire and electrical qualifications to be installed in a dwelling if that's the standard your permitting authority has decided is the one they are going to use. some places require ASME in addition to UL 2523.
personally I wouldn't install any wood burning appliance (except a wood stove in the living space) in a dwelling except in a dedicated boiler room with outside air and a 2 hour fire rated walls/ceiling. the issue isn't the appliance usually, it's the chimney or wood hygene.
