Last year when I was selling firewood people’s biggest complaints were other sellers shorting them on wood, or selling wet wood advertised as seasoned.

This time of year there is a lot of wood selling going on. Later in winter most of the actually seasoned wood is gone. That’s when I put my ad up on FBMP.

Many of my customers would come back for multiple face cords. I wish I could find like 3-4 people who would buy a dozen face cords each.

I sell by the face cord, I actually call it 1/3 cord because face cords are not a legal term in my state. People pay extra for the smaller quantity and I like it that way. If someone wanted 12 face cords they would soon realize that buying 4 cords is cheaper from somebody with a processor and dump truck.

In this area for wood(i wouldnt call it seasoned last batch i got was 40-45% on my meter.) has gone up around 30% per cord in the last 3 years. Pervious to that it was pretty static price wise the previous 4 years.

Didn't hit mine hard at all, they inflated it just fine, all the way up to $425/cd.

When I first started burning I bought firewood from a local landscaping company. This was about 7 years ago and they charged $150/cord.

Since that time I have been able to get free logs from another tree service company. However that tree service now wants to charge $500 for ~7 cords of logs (basically a log truck).

So I called that original landscaping company this week. Found out they are still selling a cord of unseasoned firewood for $150.

I think I’m still going to try and get the log load for $500 and process it myself. But nice to see the rates for firewood in my area have remained flat for the past several years.

Are downed wood permits available to you guys? Its 20 dollars here and allows us to harvest up to 5 cords of downed wood from designated state lands. We are under a wind advisory for the next couple of days which means Ill be hitting the two tracks with my trailer this weekend for some easy pickins.

No and it's unfortunate that we don't have some sort of program like that a lot of our state lands, trails, and even highways could benefit from something like that.

My township used to have a program like that. I'm not sure why they stopped. I have a local guy who sells split cords for 200 a cord. I used to do that, but luckily I live in a heavy wood burning area and my neighbor is in cahoots with a local tree guy and gets A LOT of trees delivered to his house. I'm going to help him process them and split (pun intended) the goods. I feel lucky to have a deal like that. I recently got a truck load of oak rounds from him.
