Dead Leaner

After I cut the ironwood I decided to winch down the leaner on the left and buck it up and bring it home, I'll give it a week and test it with a moisture meter.

Added two pictures with the moisture meter testing the rounds for a starting point.

Normally a leaner like that I cut from the bottom up and just let it keep on dropping down until it falls. If it gets too upright on you just lift it up and out until it leans some more.

Gary the one on the right was supported by the leaner on the left so I winched down one and both fell plus it's safer winching it down.

Probably safer but that is the way my wife tells me to do it,right after she looks at my life insurance policy! :lol:

zap, I always split the wood before I give it a moisture test. I do not figure the outside is any real indicator. Even if I have split wood, I split it again.

Because the rounds are small I decide to check the m/c unsplit then next Sunday split the rounds and check again. I should have mention this in my post.

ash burn I'll split it on Sunday after drying down cellar by the wood stove then take a reading. I'm thinking we should drop 7 to 9 percent on each round.

Never did split these today but did test them unsplit, compared to last week they're looking good, one of the two splits is the same has the first group tested on 11-7-2010.

The rounds have been in the cellar about 25 feet from the wood stove.
