Why are the newer style <2000 square feet pellet stoves all built with an open house convection room blower? (My Dad calls it a squirrel cage) This seems to cause a loss of heat. The heat stays within the burn box or the unit and goes out the exhaust more than being directed in the room. To get the heat to push out more, we have turned the blower speed up which the manufacturer states is the incorrect way to operate. Does anyone else see this design issue, have thoughts, or know of a good stove that has a respectable room blower? Thank you!

It would be helpful to state which stove you have for better answers.

For pellet stoves, a certain amount of heat needs to be pushed out the exhaust to keep the temperature up so that creosote is not created. Most stoves monitor the exhaust temp and try to keep it within a certain range.

Most stoves that I know about have both a low and high fan speeds (and maybe in between). But I don't know of any manufacturer that states not to use a higher fan speed if the stove has the option.
