Coffee or morning fire - which to get going first?

Coffee pot has a timer, so it's done 15 minutes before the alarm goes off. Pour first (and only cup), then see if the stove needs any attention.
Since I drink tea, and my wife drinks coffee made with a filter and drip funnel, it's stove first and the tea kettle put on immediately. On the wood stove, I mean. Then get dressed, get the tea leaves and coffee ground and etc., then the water in the kettle is hot and we make the drinks. Secret is to put only enough water in the kettle for the first two cups, so it doesn't take long to boil.

I am so impatient when it comes to MY coffee I Have a BUNN (even then 3 min is too long at times). When I am burning good it is walk past the stove sliding the air open all the way. start coffee go to bathroom get cup of coffee, stir around in ashes toss in wood in, close door, get another cup. etc.
Playing pioneer is ok after the fist pot or two.
I grind the beans and set up the coffeemaker at night. It starts brewing at 0645. Wife gets up usually around 0630 or so, and gets the fire going very nicely. I roll out of the sack around 0730 or so, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the warmth of the fire. Works for me. Rick

I too enjoy a 3 min brew w/ my bunn :coolsmirk:
I feel I am not a hypocrite since it was given to me as a gift and I asked for a percolator!

I'm with Bart. Set up the coffeemaker the night before, flip the switch on the way to the stove-- ideally. Problem is I'm nearly incompetent to start a fire before my brain has had a couple hits of caffeine, so sometimes I flip the coffee on, hit the bathroom, then take the coffee into my very small office, close the door and turn on the electric space heater until my brain wakes up and gooses me to go do the stove. Tiny stove doesn't come close to going all night, so needs a complete start from scratch in the AM.
Check my testicles for any lumps.
Throw off the covers and search for my slippers.
Pop the warm beer on the dresser.
Skip the coffee and turn my ass to last nites coals.
Gonna be another bad day.

Last year - Climbed out a bed at 4 am put winter socks on sweat pants and sweat shirt (62 degrees) walked to kitchen (65 degrees) pushed button on coffee maker, walked to basement opened air supply to get coals hot, occasionally threw some kindling in to stove, back up stairs poured coffee, back down stairs loaded stove, finished fist cup, back up for another cup, back down to close air supply and have second cup, then back in bed at 5 am. Wake up at 8:30, (64 degrees) go to kitchen (68 degrees) warm remaining coffee, take shower, put sweats back on, get coffee and check on stove again.
This year so far - Wake up 8:30 AM or 9 AM (when ever I feel like really) put on shorts and a tee shirt, walk out to kitchen in bare feet and make coffee, sit at the computer and check e-mail and this site then if I feel like it I'll check the stove.

Our house is like Grand Central Station in the morning. Two working parents and two school age kids. We bought a Keurig last year because we were spending too much money on Dunkin Donuts. So, I pop a pod of the flavor of the day into the Keurig, load the stove, then drink my coffee. I love that stupid coffee maker.
During 24x7 burn season on weekends.
1: Re-load stove (clean out ash every 3 days)
2: Get paper (150 ft from stove)!
3: Make coffee
4: Close down air
5: Read paper with coffee.
This is my quiet time because the rest of the family is still upstairs sleeping soundly
During the week, it all goes to hell after step two.

Ok, that's cool and all, but to gloat? Really?
I'm just jealous, ignore me.
If I want coals when I wake up for the day, I have to do a PRE- wake up reload at 3-4 am.
