Still $259 here in the hudson valley, but from posts here it looks like the $199 is creeping slowly over this way.

With weather this week in the high 40's and 50's and oil prices that put pellets to shame it shouldnt be long now....

I periodically check my local Home Depot, since they TEND to have the cheapest prices for pellets (although which brand they have is always a crapshoot). The price is still $259/ton (same as it's been this whole season), up from $219/ton last year. As of now my store has 317 tons in stock. They typically have <100 tons in stock, so that is WAY more.

Tomorrow is February, and up here at least, the weather forecast continues to be pretty mild (high 40s and even 50-ish expected this coming week). I wonder when the stores will FINALLY decide they don't want to store dozens and dozens of tons of pellets when they want to get their spring stuff out?

My HD here outside Phila had well over 50 skids in the indoor/outdoor area.. Chows and Nations choice.
all marked down from 269.00 to 199.00.. hope they get stuck with them for gouging everyone this past fall. Ashy stuff to begin with..

I'd be curious to what they are charging for the Ligs? I would "guess" no price drop there.
Ace down here was 330.00 ton last fall.. waaaaaaaay to high.
but, people buy because he will store for you and u can pick whatever quanity you need whenever.. even if 10 bags/time.

Last I saw here at Ace, months back, was $260ish I believe.

Just checked the website for Rutland, VT HD. Still at $259 with 99+ in stock. Haven't been to the store recently but last time I did there were overflowing with stock as was TSC.

Drove by TSC today in upstate NY, big sign up for pellets $229/ton, down from $260 earlier in the season.

My home depot is still 259, my stove dealer had a special this weekend for 199 he gave me a few bags to try.

I would imagine pellet manufacturers are starting to cut a back on making pellets. A lot of people have stopped using pellets for heat because of the cheap fuel prices. A lot of the big box stores stopped their mid season shipments because they had a big inventory they have to get rid of before spring. With the winter this year the demand for pellets just isn't there like last year. Last year I went through 4 ton. This year I'm a few bags short of 2 ton.

I picked up some Fireside Ultra's (never used before) 18 bags. Got them from the HD in Philipsburg NJ for 3.99 a bag. Thought I had 15 bags and when I unloaded it was 18. Went back today to get more and pay for the 3 I missed.....no more of the FU's and they would not take my money. Still had plenty of the Chows and Nations Choice in stock....I don't like either.

Went to Lowes and was ready to try a dozen bags and noticed their price was 5.19 bag. I had HD receipt in hand and they would NOT match the price!!! I told them good luck with that and walked out!

Maine Woods Pellets are $215/ton direct from the plant in Athens, ME. They will load them on your truck trailer.
I got Maine Choice this year from HD, dirty and not hot-dirtiest I've ever burned actually. I don't think o would buy again at ANY price, maybe if they paid me....maybe.

It's a common misconception but MWP and Maine's Choice are not the same brand or company. As far as I know neither Home Depot or Lowe's sell MWP. I have used their pellets exclusively and have never had a problem.

I was going to get mine from Lowes since I had a gc from Christmas, but at that price and they haven't budged in weeks...I went with HD instead.

I know they aren't the same, matter of fact I wish they were MWP. I was just saying what I got this year from HD and how dirty they are.

Only put one bag through of the FU and it was pretty good. Very low fines in bag, good heat......will keep my eye out for more of these! And for the guy assuming he is getting a certain brand......good luck with that! Still will not buy Nations Choice or Chows for the current 199 price! Too dirty for me! Twice as much ash as the Ligs for sure with those 2 brands.

I think the FU's will be closer to the Ligs as far as ash......

I used to crack up when I'd go to buy pellets from HD and I'd specifically ask for the FSUs instead of the Green Supremes and the HD guy would try to talk me out of them because "Green Supremes are all I burn in my stove".....well, fella, you're an idiot.
