chimney fire with duravent double wall connector and duratech chimney

my friend has a thru the roof straight chimney
& his description of his periodic flare ups
didn't sound anything like my banging through the wall kit/roman candle

he said his just got real hot in the top of the stove & stove pipe fire, no banging

mine seems to go through stages of stove pipe flares
& then the outside chimney part way less often

if your stove connector pipe has build up and it keeps firing your burning to cool. you need to step up your stovetop temps.
my chimney has a coating of tar but not the connector pipe. my chimney is a large 8.5 x 12 outside. if you have buildup on the stove pipe your chimney must be a
mess. you should have a look see.
