Is the discoloration something to be worried about at the top? I have an old inefficient cast iron stove that I’ve been using as an open fire place (still heats home due to its size). I had it professionally cleaned this year. This was happening last season too, but it looks worse this year.

Any thoughts?

I think that's not an issue.
Smoke can always leave a coating. Depending on how the wind blows it can look different.
If the pipe cleaning didn't show issues, then don't worry.

We get a number of “pipe discoloration” post each season. Would appear normal.
