The primary air comes from the air wash over the glass and a bit more from the boost manifold which is front and center above the grate.

okay,the "boost manifold" must be the chamber formed from the bottom plate and the upper bottom plate,
the top is cast in a way as to form a tunnel for the air...then it loos like its routed to the ash drop area…..the joint between these two is discolored,
i just sealed it,i will fire it tomorrow and see if that changed anything.. this sucks.

I am not following this thinking at all. The air is routed up side channels to the top of the stove and released as an air curtain over the interior glass face. A little air is allowed to spill into the boost manifold in front of the doghouse. Pictures would help here. You might be referring to the secondary air supply manifold .

ohhhhhh…i see how the air flow is now,okay.
well what i did was, there was some cement that came away from the joint that mates the upper and lower bottom plates,i took out as much loose cement as i could and resealed those two plates,
it seems to have helped a decent amount just from that, now when i shut the air completely down,the temp will drop,provided I'm under 500.
i need an expert,or take a chance and seal the whole thing next summer.

If I may make a suggestion. Let the ash pan fill up and do not empty it and certainly do not open the ash drawer. You will have to empty the ashes out the old fashioned way - with a shovel and steel bucket. This way, if there is a crack/split or warp, the ashes will seal it up until summer, when you can figure out what the heck is causing the problem.

thats another great idea!!…i helped the situation allot by sealing that joint but its not 100%…i will take your advice.
