Buying a Enviro Kodiak 1700 insert this weekend.

It sounds like you have more than enough to go ahead and screw it to the flue collar. Drill pilot holes for the screws first.

If there is a large gap between the flue collar and the adapter you can use flat or rope stove gasket to fill the gap. No need to insulate that last little bit.

Around 2 inches. From the inside of the stove it looks as if another half in could go down but I can't get it in for the life of me. Also should I wrap the entire area with insulation after installing the screws? The plan was to put safe and sound insulation on the sides, back, and top a couple feet up.

Are you putting insulation directly on the insert or building a block off plate with insulation? You may want to check if insulation is okay there.

I stuffed Roxul behind my insert and on top of the block off plate. I didn’t do the sides since I’m not sure where the secondary air intake is and wouldn’t want to block it. The sides actually don’t get too hot with the convective jacket anyway so I didn’t think it was worth it.

I am actually going to just put it above the block off plate. The sides only have about 2 inches to the brick and the rear is 4 or so. What is the best way to get the insulation up there? I have plenty I can just start shoving up there till it all gets stuck then fit the block off plate up after.

Yeah - just shove it to make a good fit. Maybe put a letter or two directly on the plate when you lift it up.

If you have any left over, shoving it at the back would help out as that will be the coldest wall. I have Roxul completely filling the void between the back wall and the convective jacket.

There is an older thread about insulating around the insert you may want to look at for ideas though most of them require pulling out the insert which I didn’t want to do myself.
