I would like to learn to braze. Not something I will do very often but seems like something valuable to know. I don't want to invest much into it. I do not have an act torch set. I have been looking at the benzomatic kit that uses a small mapp and oxygen tank. Seems to be out of stock in a lot of places. I think this will be the right option for me though. Do I need mapp and oxygen? Can I braze with just a blue propane tank?

Might want to start with a muffler mod so seems like something I want to know.

This is more of a "what do I need to get started" question?

Brazing is a lost art and really not great for exhaust repairs as its a little brittle.. Would be better off to buy a cheap wire feed welder

I do have a mig but have no experience welding anything that thin. Is it possible to turn it down enough to weld something as thin as a chainsaw exhaust?

Lp/ propane and oxy can be used for brazing in most cases, there are a lot of types of braze. various temperature range and strength and does depend on the base material that you are working with. Those Mapp gas sets fell out of Favor a few years back. Those little tanks ran out quick. mig, depends on your machine , if you have finitely variable amperage it will work, some units only have 2-4 fixed selections. Cored ( flux inside) wire dosen't work that well, splatters alot kinda a quality issue there.
