Hey y'all, I've been off the forum for prob 2 years. I have a freestanding Princess, 2015 model. I've seen that ceramic cats seem to perform better in my application. I currently have a low hour steel cat from Midwest Hearth in it now and it doesn't seem to put off the heat the ceramics do and is very peaky. Like it's either ripping or it falls off into the low 400* range (I have a digital k-type probe for cat temp), even with a full firebox.
Anyway, in the last few years, is there any better quality option besides the ceramic cats from midwest hearth, brand wise? My last one from them seemed to perform well for about 3 years before it wasn't very excited. Still worked, but was getting lethargic.
If there's nothing new on the market, I'll head back to midwest for the next ceramic.
TIA
