And you say the gasket was stiff and wiry? Do you remember the BK part number? The part number on mine was #182. The gasket they sent me was dark grey and looked like the stuff you use around the door. I really appreciate your help.

The bypass gasket p/n I received is 0255B. By the looks of what I have found at some online stores that sell BK gaskets, the 182 p/n is an older number for the non-high density 5/8" gasket.

I have a funny feeling that the person you spoke to at BK may have been mistaken when they gave you the 182 part number.
