hmmm I am running in default mode ..mode 1 where it makes 3 succesive reductions in output unless a call for heat from the tstat is sent... no premature shut downs for me so far and with the 2 deg. swing no premature starts either. Mode 1 is NOT recommended if you run on low a lot

you know... if you hit the "reply" link in the post you are rep\sponding too it will automatically quote the post you are replying to in your post and you won't need to make 2 posts for one reply ... just sayin' :)

when I was using the tstat I ran it around 2 dashes after medium line. I set the temperature for 75-77 degrees depending on outside temps. At 77 degrees it heated the upstairs bedrooms. I liked mode three because rather than turning off it went into a low burn until it needed more heat. Maybe the tstat is not paired with the stove, because this is the second one installed.

oh ok

yikes... I tried 10 bags of green supremes and felt the same way .. first time I had to scrape cabon off of the burnpot as well as out of the end of the auger chute above the pot, switched to some Heatr's I bought at HD and they were far better, still some in the hopper, the Big Heats are next for a trial run if the temp drops tonight and I clear the Heat'rs out of the hopper. The BH's are lighter in color than the Heat'rs and much lighter than the GS or the NEWPs I have.. we will see.. 10 bags and even if they are not great they are worth a try
ok I thought it was just mine. Also already on the 2nd tstat and the same problem. No matter what mode I am in it either shuts the stove off or takes it into a low burn in mode 3 before reaching the targeted temperature. I now just run it in manual and turn it to low when I leave the house. A waste of $200.00.

These pellets burn very hot with so so ash. Way less than the North Americans I've burned, but more than my Okanagans. They may be hotter than the Okanagans too.

In my stove, they develop a pretty large pile of smoldering pellets so I'm scraping the burn pot twice a day. There is little ash in my stove though, it seems to hang out in the burn pot around the smoldering pellets. I'll try to grab a few pics next time I scrape it out.

Bottom line though, I'm happy with these pellets, especially since they came in $75 cheaper per ton than my Okanagans. They burn very hot and don't produce that much ash.

Glad to hear you like them.try to lower your air a bit I cut my air down a notch and they burned a bit cleaner for me.

This is what it looks like. Not a great picture. You can see ash up front, then coals, then the new pellets coming in to burn.

That ash is virtually all I get with these pellets too.

Yes I do 6 3 1 have my top set at heat 3 blower 4 I still give the pot a quick scrape after 12 hrs or so but they throw some good heat

Roger. Put mine down to 3 but running on 9's for heat and blower. Been that way since 7am. Gonna check on it now. Seemed to more completely pellets in the 30 minutes I saw before work.

The last time I tried Big Heats my stove needed an enema!!!

Now I know what you meant. Burned 3/4 of a ton and have scraped and cleaned my stove twice in that time. Lots of ash all over and stuck to the walls of the stove. Nothing like the Platinums I'm burning. I will skip em next time. They do burn incredibly hot though.

Ken, you running your stove in C mode or D? Now that I'm running C, even with the smallest opening at the bottom of the hopper, I'm getting very bad lava burn. Not the case with my platinums though. They do fine in C mode.

I have my stove in d mode,I'm burning my ligs now just gave the stove a deep clean new blower gaskets clean pipe and she's doing fine

I get alot of ash and clunkers in my stove with the big heat in my whitfield advantage but they do throw the heat think i might try a different brand

Hmmm I get the opposite in my stove, little ash and little heat

I normally only burn hardwoods but the end of last year I picked up several bags of big heat and AWF pines and they are both terrible for heat output, From now on it's only hardwoods for me.
