Good evening

I have been running a woodstock soap stone hybrid for a several years and I'm just not happy with it.

Im in VA using my stove probably 8-10 weeks a year. We have a fully unfinished basement with the stove free standing in basement with the flu built into a chase running about 35 feet to the peek. I love the long burn times of the Catalytic stoves but I'm tired of dealing with all the gaskets etc.. like on my wood stock I'm always having issues with them. I run a double damper setup on my chimney pipe to slow the flow.

I want a big firebox high BTU capability but nice long burn times and a stove that's easy and simple to run and maintain. I know the T6 has good reviews but I also know the Blaze kings are fantastic as well.

What would you do if you were me?

A BK Princess or PE Summit would work. So would a Drolet HT-3000.

If it were my basement I would insulate the walls. They suck a lot of heat out to the surrounding earth, roughly about a third of the heat produced. That's about one cord of wood out three that are burnt going to heat the earthworms.

But (door and window) gaskets are important in all modern stoves.

And BK is a cat stove too.

For simplicity, you just can not beat a Pacific Energy, simple as it gets stainless baffle and secondary air system, single air control, nothing is easier to clean and maintain. The T6 or any version of the summit will serve you well. No air tubes, pins, etc. to remove, no expensive fragile vermiculite or C-cast baffle to eventually replace and remove to clean and re-install after.

35’ chimney can be hard to deal with. I think if it were me I’d go with a Blaze King for better control.

Ultimately this is what I'm looking for. It's back to the basics when it comes to the stove. I want a beautiful piece thats proficient at heating but easy to use and really easy to maintain.

I have been struggling with my flu since day one. It's a straight shot to the peak no bends it's up two floors + attic space and roof peak. I have a double damper setup and at times Im still over firing. I need a stove thats going to be forgiving with this setup and my initial thought was get rid of the Cat to help simplify my life.

A BK still wants flue dampers at 35', because otherwise the residence time of the gases in the cat is going to be too short for the cat to do its job.
Moreover a high draft can suck flyash into the cat ,slowly clogging it.

If you want simple (but excellent quality), I second the suggestion above +2 key dampers.

I'm currently running two key dampers. I've got them spaced out about 20 inches apart the first one being about 18inches off the stove
