My new lopi insert should be hooked up this weekend. (BTW if I am getting my install inspected does that have to be done before I ever try to burn in it? hope not!)
The manual gives basic instructions on a break in burn, which is basically just to cure the paint - leave windows open etc, leave door slightly ajar so the gasket won't adhere to the paint, etc.
Anyway -- seeing issues coming up again and again about how people who ran older woodstoves have no idea how to run efficient EPA stoves makes me think we better get acquainted with how to do this right. I have virtually no experience running a woodstove (though I have spent plenty of time in houses heated by them, I didn't do any of the work) and my partner has heated solely with a woodstove in the past, but I am pretty sure they were all pre-EPA stoves. He's not as big into researching stuff as I am, and I am sure he's going to do a lot of the operating of this stove, so can you all steer me to the best basic (but not for complete idiots) resources? OK I will take the ones that are for nearly complete idiots as well.
I have seen people talk about a couple different videos but if they are not "stickied" at the top I don't know them. Might they be in the Hearth.com wiki or something?
(This is a Lopi 1750i insert if that matters)
