Been busy. No more room.

I've had some really good cutting opportunities lately. For starters, my neighbor had a tree service take down a bunch of trees last month. I think the total was around a dozen. That included 3 big alders and a few medium-sized bigleaf maples right along my driveway.

The tree service just brought them down. We did the rest.

My neighbor offered to let me have basically as much as I wanted, as there's enough wood to keep him supplied for at least a few years. But, he's always behind on firewood, I have multiple sources for wood, and I enjoy cutting wood. So I just took 2 truck loads of alder rounds from along my driveway.

There's still a bunch of maple that one of us will need to buck up.

Last week I got an offer to cut some leftovers from a recent logging operation. Mostly easy to handle fir and alder poles with some maple mixed in.


My dad and I made 3 trips between last Tuesday and this Tuesday, and he even made a 4th trip on his own. He doesn't seem to be slowing down as he ages.

My Toyota has been working for a living.




Some of the last week's wood has been split and put away, but I still gotta find room for the rest. I think I can fit most of this in my way-back area at the back of my property, but I can't take any more.

I would bet there are lots of folks that wish they had your problem of too much wood. Deer didn't shy away from the chain saws?

The deer were there a few days after the tree crew when I was going out to do some cutting.

This is basically wood porn.

I can't say I have the same problem, but I always seem to be in excess of firewood. I'm only entering my 2nd full winter and my 3rd overall. I have more wood that I know what to do with. I split 2 cord today, just to get it stacked before my neighbor does his fall clearing, which will chock my "holding area" full of rounds.

I started burning on the 1st of October daily, just to burn and make room for incoming firewood. Firewood is like money, you can't take it with you. Time for you to start burning too.

really nice! I need to show my wife some of these pictures of people's wood stacks, so she can see that i don't have enough! I need to come up with a good plan on where to put it all, without having to move it around when i do projects!

she all ready gives me crap about most of my friends being from ski forums she does not seem to have a problem with the wood, as long as it is all stacked nicely, or out of the way so she doesn't have to see it!

Wow! Quite an ideal situation you have there!

All of our wood starts out as huge diameter oak trees that must be rolled around because they're so heavy. I'd just love the ease of picking up those rounds you have and being able to toss 'em in a pile because they're so light. Plus, one split and done. And the stacking must be so much more uniform! As you can tell, I'm pretty [friendly] jealous of your situation

I ran into the same problem last week. I cleared some trees where solar panels are going in. Now my holding area is maxed out. I have more standing dead that needs to come down. Not to mention neighbors who will want me to haul off their stuff. This burning season my mentality switched from, "Burning the stove sets me back on filling up the stacks" to "It would be nice to have a really cold Winter 'cause I need more room in the stacks!" Guilt free burning this Winter!

Same here LOL on the extra. (posts 18 and 19) We're stoving with the windows cracked open.
Started up the stove Feb 1st full bore and now 8 1/2 months later am 2 years ahead and it's growing.......
Got about 10 C split up and curing.

Not much room left here. My wood stack privacy fence is done. Gonna have to take a few years off.
