Hello, I own a Astria Scorpio Direct Vent 45” fireplace which is on Propane. The unit is about 6 yrs old. Suddenly the unit started the following behavior.

1. Turn on unit using the remote.
2. Unit ignites and works fine (dialed in).
3. After about 30-40 seconds, the flame shuts off.
4. A short series of one-beep, two beeps (for about 7 seconds).
5. Then the unit puts out rapid single-beeps.
6. When I turn the unit off (using remote) the beeps stop.

Above behavior is repeatable.

Thanks in advance for any tips or advice.

I am not familiar with that valve set up,(I think that it is the Pro Flame Electronic Ignition)but generally that symptom points to either flame sensor not proving, or a blocked vent. Your manual should tell you what the error message means.

If it is the flame sensor it could be soot build up on the flame rod or a damaged wire causing a short.

Hello Lennox65.

Thank you for your suggestions. I watched a few youtube videos on cleaning flame sensors ( thermocouples?). I cleaned the sensor w/ some 400 grit sandpaper, and it solved the problem!

Again, thank you!
