I dunno..if the one guy misspoke but yet they come back with a good price I would be willing to do business with them.

Maybe I am missing something here....So you liked a stove...got a price....they want to raise the price...ok....but that is not the only stove on the market....I got what I consider a great stove for $5,000 installed with a bunch of Class A pipe...a lot of work...etc....are you just set on that one stove? I think you have a lot of options...there are a lot of stoves out there...

I'd drop it, no sense in maybe making the Wifes job harder.....she'll take it out on you when she gets home....remember, "when mommy is happy, everybody is happy". Shop around and don't feel obligated to by from them.

Take the written quote to another dealer. Ask if they can match it because you'd prefer to do business with them, rather than the original dealer.

Dude, for $1800 you could buy another stove!

Ah yes, the Woodstock "Oh Look, The Sun Came Up Today" sale. ;lol

It's a two storey house, so, 24 - 26 feet, as an estimate.
There is another BK dealer in town, I was going to go see today, but, too lazy to get out of the house. So, will go tomorrow. I haven't had much luck with them in the past, so, not holding my breathe on them.
Save yourself the drive. Just call them and ask for the best price he can offer on the stove.

My thought is to lose the feeding frenzy get laid back and wait until they get hungry mid summer..Make it a buyers market rather than a sellers market.

True, but sometimes it pays to look at the details, like during the PH intro sale when the PH was $2400 and the FV was $1900.

FWIW, the link I posted has an extra few hundred off the solar sale price. The e-mail says "by invitation only" or somesuch, but then it says friends & family too, so. . .group hug! ==c

Went to another dealer yesterday. He is talking to the owner to see if they will match the quote I got. Plus, he is going to take the time to come to the house to see the best option for us, in what stove will work best, where it will work best, etc.
So, we'll find out by Tuesday what we are doing. Should have the "YA" or "NA" on the first quote too.

Sounds like a professional operation that might be a little hungry. If they offer a different stove and the same price be careful they are not talking apples and oranges in value..

Nope, price is on a BK Princess.

hey Brian.....I live just south of you in western Washington and we have a dealer by me that sells the king for $4035 and that includes blowers ,installation, pipe, everything..........and that price is their everyday low price... it is not a sale price.......when I was looking for a blaze King myself I was told by many dealers that they would match any other dealers price.......so I would use that as leverage to get them to give you that price...... if you want you can pm me and I will give you more details.

If one wants to sell for 6200 and another 4035 sort of tells you either how much mark upthere is in the wood stove biz or the co-op is way out of line on the stove and maybe everything else. The 4200 quote that could not be done is more than someone elses everyday price yikes..

Don't even buy a stove from them. Your wife's job is surely not worth risking with a company that doesn't honor their own written quotes.

Well, got word today that they will honor their quote.
So, will get the BK King Ultra for just under $2200.
Another place we got a quote said they could give us the Princess for $2500. Hmm, what to do :)
Now, we just have to do some shopping around for the chimney and installation.
We may even be able to have a fire or two this year.

Congrats!

Yes, we are very excited.
Could have it installed within the next two weeks. So, could have some fires. Now, I have to get out to the inlaws and steal some of their nice, seasoned wood :)

Good to heat there is a happy ending to the story. All's well that ends well.

First quote for chimney and installation is in at $3300. Too much? For some reason, seems a little high to me. But, that is installed and certified.
Anyways, off to get at least two more quotes this weekend.
Oh, any one know the Canadian regs on chimneys? (I will look into it further this weekend) but, I was told that with a King, I can use a 7" pipe instead of 8".
Is this true? Is it good to use an under size pipe?
