Building a 12x20 x 12’ tall shed/ hunting cabin. I will be insulating it. I will only be needing heat 8-10 days a year . I don’t visit my hunting land after deer hunting until spring, I’d like a wood burner. I read all the recommendations on the forum but I can’t justify $2500 stove. Im looking for something under $1000. I’ve read about using large stoves and just loading them light. But I’d guess that means I’ll be getting up every 4 hours to load more wood. Is there anything lower cost and sized right for my shed

Mr. Heater Cleveland Iron Works Huron Wood Stove

This is one I was looking at. But it’s 10x more sq ft than I need. It seems crazy to try

A cold cabin will need some extra power to raise temperature from freezing to say 60º. Look at the Drolet Spark.

I have a USSC wood burner. I know its not the best, but works for me. I have 4 years on service on it....and thats in PA, usually cold in the winter.

Found a spark ii on sale $827 shipped
Grabbed it

Your not supposed to use an exhaust damper on an epa stove ?

If this was a 25-30' tall flue then it could be necessary. In this case, no worries. It's not going to be needed with the short flue system.

Looks like it qualifies for a 30% tax credit too!

Not excited about getting up at 3am to load the stove but it’s at a hunting cabin. Only 2x a month . No biggie. I probably get up to pee at 3am anyways :)

Watched multiple videos on doing the venting yourself. I think it’s at my
Skill level.

Excited to get it going

Ordered all the venting I need. Duravent plus 3 wall for the exterior and single wall 6” for inside. Latest issue. The top of the spark 2 vent is 6 1/4” so I’m assuming I need some adaptor for it? Nothing in the instructions about it

Help ?

From the pic, looks upside down. The crimped ends, male, point down.

No it can’t. Too loose.
I watched a video. It appears I have that adaptor correct. It needs to be pounded in. Tight fit

I think I’ve got it figured out.

Sure wish instructions were clear or in this case it’s not mentioned. Dura vent instructions are nearly worthless.

Im a master plumber. Used to figuring things out. But hvac is not my trade. It’s a challenge to get it done correctly.

Too loose or not, the crimped ends point down. If there's any wet creosol running down, you want it to stay in the pipe.

The crimped end of the stove pipe points down, from the chimney support to the stove. Is crimped end of the stove pipe - not the adapter - too sloppy in the flue collar? If it is, how does the uncrimped end fit? If the uncrimped end is snug, then cut off the crimped end from the pipe.

Note the clearance requirements for the stove and also for the pipe. Single-wall stove pipe needs at least 18" clearance from any combustible.
