I have a Lopi The Answer with a date of 1989 on the back. I don't think that it ever required a ceramic blanket but I am wondering if there is any harm in adding one to the bottom and or sides if I am able to fit one.
It’s for a stove, not an insert. I added the blanket under the fire brick. I haven’t used the stove yet so I’m still considering whether or not to keep it in I’m new to wood stoves and my goal is to keep as much heat as possible off the floor but the more research I do it seems I do t need to worry about the hearth is t required to have an R value
This stove is on a pedestal, right? I don't think I would do this. There is really no benefit, and what's going to happen is that the movement of the bricks on the soft blanket is going to release fibers. These blankets are not mechanically strong, and having wood splits deposited on top is going to make the bricks move.
Also, it's nice to have a deep belly of the stove so you have to shovel out the ashes less often.
It's UL listed, so it's safe as is.
