New member, long time reader. Bought this Encore 2550 new in '95 and just starting to figure it out. My question is how much should the primary air thermostat be closing down when the stove is hot. I'm talking about normal hot(500 degree griddle temp). When cold the primary air is just right, I can hear and see the flap close when the lever reaches the back (closed) position. When hot the primary air flap is closed when the lever is straight down (halfway) position. I installed a new thermostat this year and kept the old one because it looked fine. Switched back to the old one, exactly the same. Everything is fine with the cable. This could be normal, I've never had any cause to check this before. If somebody with one of these stoves could comferm? Thanks much...
