HI guys , any one here aver modified a mark 3 with a bypass damper , I'm thinking of doing it to mine if i cant sell it soon . no one seems interested in buying it . bin trying to sell it for three years .

May I ask why?

because when burning wood in it , when reloading smoke spills in to the house . I figure by putting a bypass i can minimize it . The model i have is rear vent that's probably why it smokes .

How's the draft alfio?

The mark III isn't known to be a back puffer as far as I know. It also isn't really meant to be a wood stove though!

Where are you located? I've always got people looking for coal stoves around here, if you're near PA I bet I've got two different people that would take it off your hands.

Hey we could do the first donor stove relay... I'll take it from Derry, NH to someone in CT :)

Ooopps.. jumping the gun here :-) sorry

Haha, actually I wasn't thinking for the donor program, but for real money! haha

Coal stoves are still very very popular back at home and people are always asking me for used coal stoves.

If we have the stove burning as we ferry it along, it will be like carrying the olympic torch. sorta.

HI , Corie ; I'm in New Hampshire, Derry to be exact. I had a few people interested two years ago. But they were all from out of state. I only used it one season at most and did not like it. I would like get around $800. I paid $1400 new, it just needs a little paint. It has been sitting in the garage for four years. As for the draft, my chimney is weird , when I had it connected I would fill it with wood and it wood burn for 5 hrs at 500 to 600 degrees with the draft closed all the way and had to block some of the secondary from the window to control the burn. But when I opened the door to refuel smoke would come out of the door. Has for selling it over there, it would have to be picked up, I have a bad back and can't do to much lifting .

Let me proposition it to a few people i think might be looking for stoves. Is that price negotiable at all? And do ya have any photos for me?

Corie, I know where there is a gooood used truck! Ha! :P Quick

boy, Alfio, Id love to put a draft guage on that thing to see what its reading.....most of the mark 3's Ive dealt with dont puff smoke into the room, unless the weather is warm or the chimney is marginal.

well I don't think it's back puffing , just when i open the door to refill. I still get sum smoke , if i'm not careful Even with the efel wood stove, the same stove that was over heating , if i filleted all the way.
P.S.
I would love to have you cum up and test the chimney if you don't mined , I'd like to fiend out what's going on in there.

Hi HarryBack; I just thought of sum thing could it be the atmospheric pressure that's giving me trouble .

no, I havent been on in a few days....atmospheric? Could be, especially if it seems to be very intermittant. DOes it do it mostly in Spring or fall, or does it happen all burning season long?
