I checked the gaskets - there is an area where a dollar bill can slide through fairly easily without ripping where I load the pellets.
Yes the hopper door. Pellets seem to feed continuously ie drop every five to seven seconds
You might want to adjust your hopper door so it closes a bit tighter against that gasket there should be a section in the manual on how to do that and then place a call to England and tell them what is going on or you can change the lff up by one and see what transpires.
There are a number of things that can affect pellet delivery and thus flame height. But from your description of the flame it appears there are not enough pellets making it to the burn pot or too much burn air.
There could be something in the feed system that is fetching them up. I didn't look for a fuel restricter on your stove, if there is one it could be closed down too much.
You should watch the auger to make sure it turns regularly as IIRC you have a fairly hefty vent system.

Dollar bill test is only meant for front door, not hopper door. If the hopper door seems too "loose", tighten the latches as suggested above.....the procedure is listed in the owners manual.

Evl is around 30 and yes there doesn't seem to be enough pellets making it to the hopper. Can I change the 1-4-1? Should I tinker or wait until monday to call englander?
The lid switch isn't all that critical, as far as it's operation. Pretty big range of motion that allows it to close it's contacts. As long as the OP hears a slight "click" when shutting the hopper door, I'm pretty certain it's closing the circuit.
Some other things that folks need to understand is that OP has a hefty vent setup that is why it is 4".
Try upping the settings to 3-5-1. This will increase fuel feed, and add more air to help the burn.
I opened the back of the stove up and the bottom of that black piece on the control board (it says thermostat) it has a jumper installed
Will do, do you have pictures of your average flame height? I have to look down into the burn pot for a view of any fire.

My flame just went out and pellet are dropping onto cooling down ashes... A bit disappointing at the moment. Perhaps the 30evl of pipe is too much.
Seems to be running better. When I initially filled the hopper, I filled it and 1/8 of the way full to make sure the auger turned. I just filled the hopper 3/4 of the way full and while I get a slight variance in flame. I've got to get some sleep but I'll check to see of I have a flame in the early am and how full or hopefully not full the hopper is.
On a side note it did set the fire alarm off once. I shut off the light and went in with a flash light with no visible smoke.

You probably just need to bump your settings to feed more fuel....if you haven't done so yet, bump your settings to what macman said....you should be pretty good then.....
When the op gets back on he needs to be certain there are enough pellets in that hopper to cover the entire exposed area of the auger and that the hopper lid gasket seal is 100% around the lid.
The exposed area around the auger has to be full to allow a proper amount of fuel to be picked up each time the auger starts and the gasket needs to be 100% because of any possible burn back and to provide the proper vacuum to allow the auger to turn for its full on time once again affecting the pellet feed amount delivered.
About the alarm situation we need more information such as did it go off with the hopper lid open and only a partial fuel load in the hopper? Are all interior vent joints sealed and so forth. Were there any air movers running in the house at that time. Has the stove been fully burned in, if not they do create a bit of a stink and even some vapors that certain fire alarms could interpret as a fire. Did you smell any smoke.
And as others have pointed out your low burn setting may need a tweak (this is a quite common occurrence since the fuel and air ratio has to be somewhat matched up for a decent burn).

Hopper lid was closed - I did smell smoke or possibly the oils from the paint. The burn pot was full with pellets and I think it may have been before the fan kicked on. I shut off the lights to check for visible signs of smoke with no evidence. I am happy to say that fire seems to be burning normal on new settings and with pellets feeding from the hopper to the auger. Down stairs was 90 on setting 7 and 85 on 5. Up stairs with some help of fans is 70. It's not the prettiest install because of the OAK but it will serve its purpose. Now I need to find a generator forum for the Briggs and Stratton I just picked up!
