Sounds indeed like it really is stuck on low. Looking back at those auger cycles that I thought were changing - yeah they are pretty much the exact same time lol. I think your black soot and quickly filling burn pot might be another issue. Hopefully Mike can get the stuck in low issue fixed (if its not just a simple bad contact of the jumper wire). I just did the dollar bill test on mine for the first time and found out the ashpan gasket isnt sealing at all, neither is the hopper, and the door has one spot in the middle. I'm guessing this might be the cause of my sooty and dirty burn.

Burning on low all the time along with other stuff can easily gum up the works. The number of other things is quite large but always boils down to air flow and over 80% of the time the airflow issue is caused by our good freind ash in the works.

Most days I leave for work around 730am and get home around 730pm. For the next three weeks most nights I wont get home until close to 9. This message board or email is probably the easiest way to reach me.

Anyone have ideas on what mode works best for this stove?
I have a 25 PAH, I am currently running on 1-5-1. I tried going back down to 1-4-1 but that setting caused me to have black soot again so I went back up. I think our stoves are very similar but yours is bigger. I've resolved my soot issues fairly well but am not sure I get the maximum heat out of the stove so I'm curious as to what you find out. Good Luck! I'm starting to think the PAH stoves aren't really a very reliable product.

Air flow settings can vary due to venting which includes the OAK, and whether or not it is vented into the wind, the amount of ash in your stove, the actual pellets (even another batch of the same pellet), and your altitude. You are burning stuff that self pollutes the burn system and varies due to fuel consistency. Welcome to wood burning 101.

Ive done the dollar bill test and i have suction. In my case i don't believe that is an issue at all.

They are the same stove, just sold under a different name (unless there is some other difference I am not aware of). 25-PAH (englander), 55-TRPAH(timber ridge), 55-SHPAH(summers heat), etc.

I will post if the new control board fixes the issues.

I will post if the new control board fixes the issues.
Installed the new control board today (took about 15 minutes on a cold stove). So far I am seeing a major improvement. Running on level 9 (1-4-1) the house was substantially warm within two hours. Once the house hit 80, i have been slowly dropping levels to determine what level i need to be at for ideal everyday use. Also, the new control board seems to have reduced my soot problems by about 75%. I still intend to tweak things a bit looking to clean it up a bit more, but if i can't accomplish that its not going to be the end of the world.

After 3 1/2 years, I finally have a stove that keeps my house warm. Thanks to everyone that helped accomplish that.
