Because it's not here yet, both thread and weather - at least on LI.

I have seen folks in CT say a snow storm would be coming, but most snow stay south of them.

Well, yesterday was windy and cold, but no precipitation. Today a bright and sunny day.
No snow in the forecast here any time soon.

And the colder than a decade January doesn't seem to be that bad either with day temps around freezing and night temps fluctuating between 20 and 30 for the foreseeable future.

So no severe weather here yet. Thankfully.

I'm glad we are not seeing Minneapoliis or Chicago weather. Snow and ice will be showing up across parts of W. VA, VA, and Washington DC.

Nothing severe up here in the north country but we keep getting about three inches of snow every other night. Since it's in the single digits, we'll need the snow, hopefully it will help stop the frost from going below whatever is normal up here.

I just checked NOAA, we have another 4 to 6 inches of snow coming in from Jan. 7 to the 8.

Well, the forecast was all dry today. But it has been snowing for the last hour or two. 3/4" of snow on the ground or so. Seems to be stopping now.
Not severe, but weather nonetheless.

The only good thing about our snow we've received lately, it's sugar snow and not the wet heavy stuff.

With the temps this cold, I'm thinking this next 3 to 8 inches will be the same.

Tonight I was watching a TV station out of Plattsburgh NY, they were talking about a possible system on Saturday coming up the East Coast. One model says yes and the second model says no for a storm, are you hearing anything out of your area?

Yes, some forecast of snow. But 35% chance of precipitation, and an amount of 0.00" ...
I think this far out with diverging models they just average these different predictions leading to nonsensical results.

We'll see.
At least it looks slightly nice now, just a few grass blades poking thru.

Feels like -21c over here today... I believe it was -11 last night, the family had shed hangouts and the stove did perfect. Took a while to bring it up to temp but did a good job against the wind and cold. The shed is definitely not air tight either.

Feels good to finally have a real winter again. Been a long while. Hopefully this biting cold knocks down the tick population a good bit.

Freaking <I'd use another word ;) > here in Icy Hollow.

It was 9F with the wind chill this morning.

Glad I stocked inside the house before the temp drop :)

They sprayed salt on our roads over night! Might get bad somewhere but it’s going to be an all rain event here. I can’t remember the last time they salted.

Not bad temps for up here this morning, 16.2. This week the Lake Effect hits the Watertown area again, if the winds shift north, we could get more snow. I was wondering why the wife ask should we put more firewood in.

NOAA is forecasting 1 to 2 feet in the most persistent lake snows.

It's nothing severe but our local TV station out of Watertown NY has us getting 6 to 12 of the white stuff that pretty much starts tomorrow.

NOAA is calling for 2 to 6 of the white stuff, that's better than the 6 to 12 our local TV station was calling for.

2-6 inches! I held my breath hoping it wasn’t feet of LA snow!

We haven't received much snow up here, maybe two inches so far.

Just something to keep an eye on.

Pop some popcorn, make a big pot of chile to watch the southern freak out! They won’t let our kids out for recess if it’s below 40F!!!

Here: hi/lo forecast:
Sat 46/35, Sun 40/17, Mon 26/11 (windy), Tue 21/11 (sunny), Wed 22/16 (sunny) - earlier they said Wednesday 6...
So it'll fluctuate a bit. But it's going to get cold. Loaded the rack in the garage with big chunks of red and white oak.

Our local forecast office dedicated yesterday evenings for cast to

Charles A. Doswell III

I did not get a chance to go to deep but seem like we all owe a lot to the this man when it comes to severe storm forecasting.

Well, we only have furries in the forecast but tonight -25::C
with real feel -35 to -40 ::C frost bite warning in effect
Cold enough to freeze the balls of a brass monkey (look it up)
The furnace is running Sugar Maple Stay warm. We would love to get a
lot more snow so we could ride our sleds

Negative 9*F here this morning.

Temps here are 20-30 degrees below normal. 19F tonight with a high of 31. Two stoves running neither is working hard. But am working harder than I’d like to be. 5” of wet snow that you could always hear falling. Not sleet but not snow. Anything not cleared off while the sun was out today will be a solid sheet of ice tomorrow.

This is something one doesn't see too often. Louisiana and Georgia have more snowpack than South Dakota!
