2023 Severe Weather

It’s pretty close to that now. I wrestled in HS and enjoy watching it. My wife, not so much.

It is tough watching it for 12 hours straight to see your kid wrestle for such a short time. Only the tournaments go forever though.

At least she’s much better than I was! She had 18 wins by pin this year and missed going to state by 3 people. I remember she lost 2 matches by letting her opponent escape a few times and it was enough to give them the win, lol.

She’s hitting weights now and joined a wrestling club for extra practice 2 times a week. I think she’ll be a little 114lb beast next year!

karate was the same way. 14 hour Saturday's, then back to practice Tuesday night.

Coed? Or do they keep them separated by preferred pronoun? It was all boys, back when I wrestled, they didn't start coed (around here) until later.

My son is in karate, and yeah... tournaments can be long. But they're only a few times per year, versus every friggin' weekend all winter long, for team wrestling.

This was the first year there was a girls only team for our area. They had to bring 2 high schools together in order to make a team, but our area was able to get 159 girls!

Accu is calling for 6 to 10 inches of snow starting on 3/13 through 3/15, hopefully we get the 6 inches or less.

Winds may become strong enough to cause power outages in portions of New England and the upper mid-Atlantic, according to DaSilva, who noted that the worst conditions may be where the weight of wet snow and strong winds causes tree branches to shift or break.

Near the coast, winds may frequently gust between 40 and 60 mph and could reach hurricane-force strength of 74 mph or greater in some instances from Monday night to Tuesday.

"Even though the astronomical cycle of the moon will not produce the highest tides, this storm will still have the potential to cause significant coastal flooding, especially across eastern New England, where strong winds will blow onshore the longest," DaSilva said.

It's always nice if you don't have to travel. I guess that we should put more firewood in before the storm hits.

Some sites have us getting between 1 to 3 inches from this storm, that "wood" be nice.

I'm sure Whiteface will have plenty of snow. With the daytime temperatures warming up above freezing with a strong sun and the nights below freezing, our driveway will be like a skating rink.

I'll be sanding or putting down cold ashes until we lose it.

Whiteface has a base snowpack of 32 to 46”. Not a whole bunch, but it’ll keep them open into April. Especially if they make some on a few trails.

Well cloudboy has a forecast I'm not looking forward to on voting/town meeting day. I'm just at the edge of that highest total band of 16-24". WMUR is still calling for 12-18" in my area. Either way, I filled up my gas can so my snow blower has enough to get thru what will probably be the biggest event of the season. I still have snow banks up to 4' tall. Although the main yard is only at 1-1.5' of snowpack.

I wonder when they make the call to start packing the snow down vs removal? It seems like the walls could cave in pretty easily on that photo.

Nature seems to take care of this. We get snow walls of 10' and more on Hwy 20 through the North Cascades when it first opens. It's packed down by the weight of the snow .

The big concern for them right now is getting the 6+ ft. of snow off of roofs. With rains coming that can get really heavy quickly.
