It's 3/16" checker plate. I got a fresh piece with not rust and nice mill scale. I cleared it with some high heat header paint and it makes it almost a gun blue. Of course I cut and beveled it 48x56". This was just to get it in for now, the plan was for some slate later..... But it's growing on me.Nice looking install! Whats your hearth pad made from?
Got the sirocco 30.1 in today and the chimney installed. Doing a test run with all the windows down.
Mmmmm pancakes...
The curing pant smells like burnt pancake batter.Looks good!

If you have the fire bricks out can you check to see if you have the fiberglass/fire blanket underneath them?
Maybe BKVP can help on this one. I noticed on prior sirocco reviews that under the fire bricks there was a fiberglass/fire blanket. On my sirocco 30.1 when we removed the bricks for carrying the unit up the stairs I noticed there was no blanket it was just the bricks then steel. Is this blanket no longer required?
The ash pan got pretty warm (~150*) on my break in fire and I thought I better check.
Thanks
The blanket is on Chinook models, not under brick, but under firebox. There is no blanket under the firebricks but there is one on a thin shelf where the ash drawer would go with a small air space between this shelf and stove bottom. I opted out of the ash drawer because I prefer direct removal vs. raking into a small hole. An ash drawer is one more potential source of air leakage into the firebox.
In wood burning terms, 150 degrees at the ashpan doesn't seem very hot. Unless that's Celsius!
Our promotions vary in how they are structured. At times we cover the entire portion, others only a portion.Hey Guys,
Does anyone know if Blaze King picks up the tab when they do their free blower promo or is it up to the dealer to cover the cost?
About to pull the trigger on the Sirocco 30 - dealer will give me a discount right now but if I wait and buy during a free blower time, they won't give me their discounted price. In either case, I'll save money but I would have thought that Blaze King pays for the free blower give away - not the dealer.
Thanks

I don't have a direct answer to your question, other than to assume Blaze King would be covering the cost of any incentive they advertise. The reason your dealer is offering a discount NOW is that this is their slowest time of the year. By August, their business will be trending back up toward fall.

Thanks for chiming in!
I can understand now why they would offer me one or the other - depending on how Blaze King is reimbursing them.
Maybe I can catch the next promo at full reimbursement and they'll give me both deals! Probably too much to ask! August??
Thanks!

Burn away!I was hoping you could tell me if the Blaze King crate my new Chinook 30.1 came in is approved for burning once the fasteners have been removed.
Thank you...I will pass it on.Also, a suggestion. The forward most firebricks that form the ash lip have all square corners but the forward bottom corner of the stove has a welding fillet (nice weld btw) so the top of the firebricks tilt towards the back of the stove. It took all of one minute with a coarse stone to knock the corners of the firebricks off. Now they sit square and tight.

So the Sirocco 30.1 does not have this blanket? I'm just confused. In this previous thread https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads...ly-silly-aka-nicks-sirocco-30-install.124409/ there was clearly one in that Sirocco 30, I attached the picture.
Mine didn't have this mat, Its no big deal by any means if that's by design I just wondered since I saw a previous example of a sirocco 30 with it.
Thanks

Yes, on all models. Can anyone tell me, does all the combustion air in Blaze King stoves enter the firebox via the glass air wash?
