In the event that you can convince BK to produce a new sticker, hopefully it will be marked with sufficiently small tick marks. Here is my Fireview for reference; 1/4 either side of 1 makes a huge difference in how my stove burns . The WS IS is more controllable than the Fireview and it does appear to have finer tick marks but I don't have a picture of it.

Good luck in getting what you believe will improve your stoves.

My stove has the numbers, thank goodness, but I believe it is not "silly" to disagree with BK's decision to remove them. I notice a huge difference with only slight changes to the thermostat settings when trying to get long burns. I seriously point at the little O in "normal" vs. the little R.

We all get one opinion and each is valid.

I agree. I use the marks as references for certain burns at certain times with certain temps.

Moving the knob slightly can switch burn times by a few hours either way. If I had the new style then I would be taking photos of certain positions and using the photos for reference. Once I establish burn ranges then I would have to mark it out.

[Hearth.com] 2015-2016 Blaze King Performance thread (Everything BK) Ok so something new i noticed. I just started blowing cold air with a fan toward the stove today. The stove is running hotter at the same thermostat temp so i had to lower the thermostat down to 1. Before i fired up the stove 2 days ago I checked for gasket leaks with the dollar test and everything was fine.

I usually run the stove 1.5-2 on these not so cold nights. Like 40 degrees out now. But with the fan blowing on it about 15 feet away i have the thermostat at 1. Stove top temps right above the cat are around 370-400.

Anybody have some advice..

Air movement pulls heat from the stove thusly increasing the burn rate.

lowering the thermostat makes sense then. Thanks Chris!

Just me but I know it makes her feel better to know what she is doing with the draft. I can climb my deer stand in the dark and have plowed the roads in a white out. I know the no numbers thing would not be an issue for me. This however is was not about me, now it is a non issue for anyone else too.
I'm pretty sure I could get along just fine without numbers, but they're pretty handy to have if you're trying to explain to your mother-in-law what to do from the ER when you're there with a sick kid.
This is exactly why I want numbers labels on mine, too. Easy to tell the wife roughly where to set it, when I'm away from home. Now I have one stove with numbers... one without. Unfortunately, the one that gets heavy use is the one without the numbers.

There has to be someone on this thread who is tech savvy and could design a sticker with numbers on it. They could probably sell them for a few bucks as well. Now we have the swoop, numbers, and dots. Can't we all just get along with our swoops numbers and dots?!?

Swap out the brackets. They're only held on by a couple screws on my Sirocco, I would imagine it's the same on the Ashfords. The tstat handle is only held on by a set screw, just open the stat all the way up, pull the knobs, switch numbered bracket with swoop bracket and reinstall.

For the record, I like the numbers too as it allows me to have repeatable results. Plus I can coach my Mrs along when I am away as to what number to set the stat at. But my stove has the numbers, so I don't really have a dog in this fight.

O'clock is the universal language

For those that don't have numbers get a p- touch or use different color dots were the numbers would be. Yellow for 1, red for two, green for three,
Also everyone is going to have different setting due to draft and coldness. My results of setting two can be just like Ashfulls setting 1.5. This is because my stove is in my uninsulated basement so naturally my heat gets absorbed into my block walls and with the blower on the stove will loose more heat, keeping the t-stat open more. Just my two cents

I think the main point is when you drop 3k plus on a stove, you shouldn't have to break out the p-touch and make setting marks to operate it efficiently

Agh, okay.

I have to leave now for work but if you experienced folks could go back up to my picture of the thermostat I have a question for you. Someone maybe the VP said that at the 2 o'clock position the damper is closed. Would you look at my dial and tell me where on that dial you think my damper would be closed? I am guessing it may happen to be at my number 2 position. Thanks to anyone who can help, just need some experienced people to give me an opinion I guess. Thanks Jeff

Turn it down when you get home, you can hear when the inlet closes.

its very quiet so listen carefully. Or at least mine is

After all this discussion, I guess the question for BK would be, "has anyone said they prefer the swoop to the numbers"? I mean, "thank God they got rid of those troublesome numbers..."

Well that's a good point. Who would want the swoop over numbers? Logically that makes no sense in terms of operating it.

I haven't used mine much yet as it's new, but thinking about it I would definitely want the numbers right now.

Swoops are for nike

Lol Woody I emailed my stove place to see if they have any- I can try and get you one.
Sweet. Tell Em to rip it off a stove that's been sitting around in the showroom if they don't have one
