i'm hoping to burn less than the 5 1/2 i burned last year. (which was a ton more than the year before that)
i'm not as concerned about these cold days as i am about needing to still be burning some in june again like last year.

I started burning on Sep 19. Since then, my daily average is 0.55 bags per day. My highest burning days so far were yesterday and Nov 19th. Both days I burned 1.25 bags.

You don't have to. I have a friend who's last name is Ford and he worked at the GM plant in Ontario before it shut down.

Burned just over 2 tons since October and just turned the furnace on to help during this deep cold snap - definitely helps with the upstairs bedrooms. Last week was 2 bags a day for the week. I have just over 2 tons in the basement but if this cold snap keeps up I might add one more just to be safe.

Same here since the cold snap started - 2+ bags a day (except yesterday exactly 2) and 2+ tons burnt. I can't complain, the only time I use the oil furnace is to toss 15 minutes of heat into the pipes to ensure they don't freeze down there in my unheated basement when the temps go to 0 or below only (well, there is a register down there and the pipes are within an insulated area).

Down to 1 ton now, looks like I'll be doing the pellet hunt next week to replenish the stock in the basement.

-19C tonight and Friday's nighttime temp is predicted to be -23C, roll on next week, looks like there might be warmer weather on the way, just hope the snow stays away too.

How's everyone else doing pellet stash wise ?

40 bags so far since mid Nov. Mostly Ener.gold supremes with a few bags of Dry Creek thrown in . 2 tons left in garage . Have been up to 2 bags a day this week though here in N.N.Y. ,been 20 /25 below every morning .First year burning pellets so not to sure if that's average ,good or bad . Just know the furnace isn't running and the house is 75 deg.

I'll be breaking into ton # 6 on Saturday. Been heating since September. Probably get half way through ton # 8 by the end of the heating season. I used a full 8 tons last year.

Just into my 4th ton now and I started burning Oct 18th so I am still sitting on 4 tons plus about 44 to 48 bags so just shy of 5 tons total. I had to open my 4th ton a couple of days ago and have only used 4-6 or so bags as it has been cold here. Temps this month have been below average to average for January. November was well below and possibly colder on average than this month. December was a normal cold and I am just now starting to edge over a ton per month average if temps remain colder. I had 4 more days to go with the third ton to hit my 1 ton per month mark.

It's going to be in the 40's Friday and 52* Sat with milder temps for the next 10 days which will help bring back my average of a ton per month hopefully. Either way I am good on stock. I had no idea what my pellet tonnage would be my first year here so I stocked up big. I think I will be at 6 tons used total all said and done but ya never know. This factor is based on keeping the house too warm IMO and I know I used much more thus far than I really needed to maintain a 70* inside temp. Wife thinks she's at the beach sitting in the living room. Crazy warm in there. I thought 4 would be light and 5 a good bet but why get stuck looking for pellets in the cold. I can store the unused inside until next year.

I was doing the math in my head on the way north this afternoon to get the 2 ton of somersets and I might get by with 5 ton now that these new pellets burn so much hotter and I can dial it back some.

I'm at about 2 tons burned, 5 left. I figured nearly another ton in January and two in February then one or two to keep the house cozy through into April or may.

We're a bit south of many here, and our last day burning was close to tax day, 4/15 (which means Jan 6 was halfway point for heating season). I think those who think we're at halfway are a bit optimistic. Those at 60-65% just need to buy a calendar!

im in no danger of running out of pellets at all this season even if these temps dont let up. however, its still using up pellets at an alarming rate. Each week i gain more and more space in the garage. I can even park the rider mower / snow plow in there now along with the car.

I just want a few days of above freezing temps. we had 2 days of light snow / sleet mix and I also had to work long days during it. since i couldnt clean it, now my walkway and driveway have about 1 inch of solid black ice on them and its a nightmare. I just salted the entire thing like you wouldnt believe. I hope its better in the morning.

I'm down to 1.5 tons of pellets left so I'll be needing more before too long. Burned about 2.5 tons so far plus maybe a cord of wood and a half ton of Eco Bricks in the wood stove.

Nothing wrong with being optimistic and saying "about" halfway

Looking at a historical chart, February is colder than December, March is colder than November and April is colder than October, so maybe 1-2 weeks 'till the middle.

I'm less than halfway through 5 ton, in fact, I'll have at least a ton left for next year. Keep in mind that I'm running 50-50 with cheap corn too. I'm hoping corn stays low. If it does, I'll tank an additional 800 bushel for next burning season.

I started off with 3.5 tons in late October, 2.5 tons down. Another 2 months to go (Feb & March), Going to need at least another 1.5 tons at a minimum.

Looks like I'll be making a few trips tomorrow and Friday (can't do it over the weekend, working), got to do at least 5 trips in the Caddy @ 10 bags per trip to give me an extra ton to start with, then next week or the week after pick up a few bags here and there per day.

Last winter (13-14) I used 5.25 tons, but that was due to that darn artic air that locked in for 3 weeks, my 25-PDVC worked hard to keep the house above 67F last winter, poor thing, had to use the oil guzzler to help the stove out and stop pipes in the basement from freezing.

I decided I needed a stove with a bit more beef, so I got the Ashley AP5660L just as the season started, and so far it's done good, kept the house above 75F with the cold temps we've had this last two / three weeks, but it's chewed some pellets to do that. I have run the oil guzzler as well here and there, just to up the temp in the basement to stop pipes from freezing, but not as much as last year.

Based on previous years, within the next 2 weeks I will have burned 1/2 of my pellets for the season. If current trends remain, I will finish the season burning just shy of 3 tons.

First year with a stove. The last two months I have averaged 1.3 bags a day. I was almost at 2 bags a day during the cold snap, about 1.8. I have about 2.5 tons left.
