YES I looked at the rules and I am just looking for opinions on these 3 stoves. My decision will be on my own just wanted to see if I get anyone with a reason not to buy one of them. Or a reason to buy one.

I have a Napleon wood stove and it works really well. Been running it for 2 years and only had one small issue which was the door handle. I went to the stove shop I bought it from and got a new hadle for 12.00.

So that leads me to my first choice of a pellet stove The Napoleon NPS40 (broken link removed)

My 2nd choice is an Enviro Meridian http://www.enviro.com/fireplace-products/pellet/freestanding-fireplace.html#Meridian

And this one my wife loves the look but one shop says is a great company and another says they are junk its a St. Croix?

(broken link removed)

Thanks
Shawn

A friend of mine has the St.Croix. He absolutley loves it. My wife and I liked the Harman, which we ended up getting. I almost picked an Enviro though. Comes down to the dealer and $$. Good luck!

How about dealer service? Are they all available from the same dealer? What are the warranties? Parts and labor?

Please take a look through this forum to get an idea of both initial and future issues people have with pellet stoves (complicated items), and consider what you are going to do when the time comes. We usually suggest looking for the friendliest and best servicing dealers.

I have to agree, you must have a dealer that understands and can service the products that they sell. Service should be first and foremost, then pick the stove.

Yea pellet stoves are alot of parts and work down the road, so you want your dealer to be familar with there product. Some dealers out here dont service what they sell

The Napoleon and the Enviro are both available at one dealer who I beleive does his own service. The other the St Croix is available from another dealer and I buy BIO-Bricks from them but have never bought a stove from them.

Thanks
Shawn

If you're handy even a little, performing maintenance on most pellet stoves is pretty easy. I've worked on Whitfield's, Avalon's and Englander's and they're all basically the same. When I'm buying a stove now I look for parts availability on the web, because why pay somebody when I can do it myself.

It all comes down to service
If you dealer provides service
the Meridian is the quietest stove I sell.
For about $500 more you can get the Enviro Omega
that is what I changed to this year.

Don't know about the other ones, but I am on season 3 with my St Croix Hastings and it is definitely not junk. I've run about 10 tons of pellets through it so far and I have had very few problems and have never had to replace a part <knock wood>. There are few other happy St Croix owners out here as well who will also tell you that they make a high quality stove.
Having said that, I agree with the others that dealer support is a big part of the buying process. Never mattered to me since I have never had to call them and i'm a solid year out of warranty, but it should be a consideration.

Maintenence on this stove runs about 30-45 minutes per week for me to do a pretty thorough cleaning. When i'm pressed for time I can push certain cleaning steps to bi-weekly and finish up in 15-20 minutes.

I've had an Enviro Meridian for 4 years now with no problems.

Dealer service really should factor into your choice. I made a huge mistake when I bought mine, the dealer basically forgot I existed after I bought it.

Luckily, I found another dealer who went out of his way for me. Amazing, since I didn't buy the stove from him.
