What brand pellets? What is the longest size average length of the pellets currently being used? If the auger is turning and pellets aren't dropping it sounds like the pellets may be too large and bridging.

Or, does the stove start and run normally for awhile if you wait until it cools down, then restart it?

Hello all,
Pellet brand is hearth(at least that's what it says on the bag), and they are about 1/2" long. The stove will not drop pellets at all but when I put pellets in the pot they will light up and the blowers will come on. The stove calls for heat but pellets won't drop. And yes, the motor is turning. As for being persistent, BeGreen I try. I am now giving up on this thing tho. I think we should have just bought ourselves a new one instead of a used. What about the vaccum switch??? Can that go bad??? I would call a tech but every dealer I call says, that they don't know of anyone. So, I have to try and be my own tech you know.....

Frustrated, COOKIE

Is there a way to verify that the feed spring (auger) is actually turning? can you use an inspection mirror to look up into the opening?

And Is the motor turning in the correct direction? (i don't know which way this is on a quad)

Good questions. Cookie, as noted in previous posts, if one suspects the vacuum switch it can be temporarilly bypassed - for testing only. But I'm with GVA on this one. It sounds like the auger is not really turning or it's binding. Given that the auger tube was plugged solid I would give this a real close inspection. Also, the control box is for multiple stoves. Please confirm that the control box was correctly setup (jumpered) for the 1200i.

Back to the auger - Is there any substance still caked on in the tube? Also check to make sure the tube and the auger didn't get bent in the renovation process. At this point, patient and detailed observation is best. Get the pellets out of the stove, expose the auger tunnel and start the stove. It will only run a few minutes, because the thermocouple won't sense any flame at the burnpot. Push the reset button to restart the cycle. Look very closely for any possiblity of binding.

Hello Everyone,
I am pleased to tell you that we got the pellet stove going.. YEAAAAAAAAAA! The problem was the new auger motor. It was not turning all the way. It has been two days since we got it going and it's still running fine. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I want to thank everyone for all the help. Take care and have a Happy Thanksgiving..

Outstanding!! Thanks for the update. I've been wondering how you folks were doing. What was the reason for the auger not turning all the way?

We are not sure why the new auger motor would not turning all the way. It would only turn full circle only once in awhile. That is why it would sometimes drop the pellets and then quit. We will be taking that motor back. I just hope the dealer will take it. The one that's on it now, if you can believe it, is the old one.

The dealer should try it on the bench. If it isn't working, well....

Hello! Just thought you would like to know that the stove is still running GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are happy and now staying warm.......

FWIW, molex conectors caused some problems with auger motors, if they wernt hooked up properly, the motor would spin back and forth and not do anything.....
Glad you got it going!!

Awesome!!! Thanks for posting the update Cookie. You should get a Hearth forum award for persistance. The stove should keep you nice and toasty for many more winters to come.
