I split up the rest of the chestnut oak. Great firewood, it is rather difficult to split. The woodshed is just about full.

It will probably be dry enough to burn coming winter
I had a dead locust tree top that was 16% just at splitting.

I went into my woods yesterday and wacked 2 more dead standing locust. Six inch diameter, almost no rot. You never know with locust but this load is easy to split. This will do it for now, my wood piles are all full.

Yeah something has been killing some of the locusts around here (NJ). Dead standing are becoming more plentiful it seams.

A blight swept through the Blue Ridge Mountains 20 years ago and killed all my locust. I have 48 acres, and I have just one locust left, I will wack him next year. Locust, it was great, while it lasted.
