The first process involves drying the material. This is done by actually burning 15% of the material. It works like this.....a percentage of previously dried raw material is suctioned off and fed into a high efficiency industrial burner which burns it very hot - with almost no smoke. The direct output of the burner chimney is mixed with outside air to lower it's temperature and then piped, along with the other moisture-laden feed material, into a this giant rotating dryer. 300 Horsepower fans pull the hot burner gases and wood through the dryer. The mixture of gases and wood is actually suspended in mid-air as it travels through the drying apparatus at the rate of 20,000 lbs per hour.
