Hello, this is my first post!

I have a Lopi NexGen hybrid large flush insert. Just bought it and had it installed in October, and we're dealing with a hell of a learning curve with this damned thing. /:

Anyways, glass cleaning. The wet Ash technique works great for the lighter to medium haze, but it seems in the mornings after a long burn overnight, I can't get it off without using a razor scraper. Is there any kind of cling spray I could soak it with in the mornings to get it off? Is this a normal problem? I also tried vinegar as well.

We have this problem whether it's just using oak, ash, or anything else. The moisture in the wood is no more than 15%, especially after cracking open a split to check, so I know it's not a moisture issue. I attached a picture to show how it looks like on average.

I'll have more questions in other threads, so please bear with me, and thanks!

I should have also mentioned that the top two or three inches can't be scraped with a razor due to some print on there. Looks like something you would see on microwaves with the polka dot circles all over the top of the glass.

Try a good hot burn in the morning, this should help clean the glass. Also, try running the overnight load with a bit more air. I end up with dirty glass in the lower corners, and clean it up every now and again with a damp paper towel, but i don't let it bother me too much. Its been my experience that the Lopi flush inserts, while nice to watch the fire, also seem to be hard to keep completely clean.

I previously had similar problems with my FPX stove. My first few years the glass was so black and everyone said burn a hot fire or just dip a rag in some ash and it should wipe right off. I was spending so much time scrubbing the glass to no avail.

Listening to this forum over the years I learned to get my wood on the three year cycle. Having that three year old wood made all the difference. Now when I let the stove cool I take a damp cloth and wipe the glass off with ease. What used to take 30+ minutes to clean now only takes about a minute or two.

Double check your wood and make sure it’s seasoned for at least three years before burning it. These new stoves are not forgiving when it comes to moisture content.
