Hi All
My Yardworks 6.5 ton electric splitter stopped working properly. I changed the oil and still the same. There is a small 1/4 " diameter rod that the splitting lever engages , with the lever all the way pulled for hardwood , the lever pushes this rod all the way in.
It is suppose to pop out when you relese the engage lever. The small rod is stuck in and wont return out.
The splitter will split a log and then take several minutes for the ram to return.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Is the air relief open a little bit? Its the little black knob on the end where the ram comes out.

Grab that with a pair of pliers or vice grips and pull it out to see if your RAM retracts normally. If so you know the problem the fix maybe cleaning the rod or replacing a broken spring but whatever will require tear down to find out

Many thanks Jags. Gave it a little tug with the vice grips and it moving in and out freely. Ram retracting
normal speed. Splitting fine. Service depot 3 hours away was no help.

Nowadays service depot's rarely are any help.
Especially if the product comes from the other side of the ocean
