I purchased the US Stove gw1949 pellet stove a few weeks ago, set it up with a 4 inch chimney. Fired it up and it has been working pretty well except for one problem that has occurred 4 times now. I'm getting smoke out of the lift hatch that covers the pellet feed rams. When I open it up (its hot) there are pellets burning their way up towards the main pellet storage bin. So I shut the pellet feed door, push a rod through the pellet basket down below, cram the pellets on the feed ramp down. I'm just about to spray it with water, but that seems to work. I vacuum this out almost daily and clean the glass which is pointless. I don't think it should operate like this...Anyone have a similar experience or an idea how to correct this? I texted the manufacture, but they are unavailable due to bad weather.... Thanks for any info. Jeff-

Pellets burning in the hopper? Put them out!! Gonna be a mess to clean up but better than burning your house down

The hopper is fine, but its the feed ramp from the burn chamber UP TO the hopper. Its gravity feed and no electricity or augur involved. I'll contact the manufacture on Monday. I have cleaned this pos every day. Way too much work. Possible design issue....for sure a safety issue. As a prepper its a great idea, as an everyday user....not so much. I have both printed and on-line manuals. I'll get pictures the next time it happens. It seemed to run fine yesterday, but today is another day. J-

I always wondered that about them stoves as their is no real separation between the feed and the fire/heat. My thought on those were they would make a good unit for the occasional camping night or similar but never a full time heating unit.

OK its a wiseway. how is your chimney? most have had trouble with the draft if it was not straight up. they require quite a draft to run correctly from what i have read.
