Been awhile since Ive been on here. Bought a different house that has a fireplace that used to be wood that has a gas log in it now. Weve used the fireplace a couple times and its just not the same as having a nice crackling wood fire. So Im wanting to switch back to wood. Other than the obvious, what do I need to do? It still has the firebrick on the bottom and back but the sides are sheet metal. Does the sheet metal need to be covered with brick or removed?
