Man this wood world has lots of stress...

Maul or Fiskar?
Cover or not?
Stihl, Husky or Dolmar?
Seasoning time
Wood Sellers...

I could go on.... but dont want to get myself more worked up

Sure beats the simple life of calling for oil or an LP delivery though. How much fun and thought goes into calling for a delivery of fossil fuel other than ordering when the market price is at it's lowest for the season :-)

lol yep the rest is gravy compared to that!

Makes you long for the 'good ole days' when all you had to do was push a button or turn a dial on the wall and heat magically came out of the vents!

This new fangled stuff - now you've got cutting, felling, bucking, loading, hauling, unloading, splitting, stacking, seasoning, hauling to the stove, stoking, burning, ash removal and disposal - and perilous conditions at every step!

Almost all exercise is fraught with danger. Stick to yoga if you want safety. This from a guy who was just told by his doctor to try yoga for his shoulder bursitis that flares up when splitting wood ;-)

Of course it is the swinging sharp things at high velocity that makes THIS exercise more fun isn't it?

Any form of exercise builds up endorphans which help elevate mood and take away stress. Now if you get hurt while exercising, the endorphans are replaced with stress all over again.

I think I get a few of those from a great score too...

Somehow "I locked in a good price on oil this year" just isn't the same as "I just found and picked up a full load of rounds for free"... and we get it more often when chasing wood scores too - feeds the addiction I guess... but then back to the topic - the stress of "will I find enough scores to meet my self imposed quota for xyz season's pile?"

No doubt!! Add in the heavy metal music pumping on my iPod and its downright aggro!

I resemble that remark!

And nobody mentioned sitting back enjoying a "cold refreshing beveredge" (aka beer). and admiring your hard work, while getting weird looks from your better half.

3) Stihl (duh)
4) "Season" till it's dry

Amen Brutha!

Add getting weird looks from your better half while drinking beer and enjoying the activity on hearth.com. I always get "who you chatting with, your wood buddies". I try to tell her "it's not a chat room, it's a forum to share and learn wood knowledge".
