Thinking this is pignut hickory, the heartwood would line up. Looks like it’s been cut/dead for a bit. Some of the wood has some rot. The stuff that is already split is not up for grabs. Anyone else have a suggestion? Right around the corner from me I think.

IDK but looks like the guy is hand splitting it so that's a plus, unless he's giving away all the crap crotches etc.
And yes i know crotch wood burns great but the pita splitting it is usually not worth the extra time.
 
Looks like Norway maple. Pics are little far away, but that's my inclination.
