Hey

I am install a comfrotbilt HP41 soon.

If I plug its power to a smart switch (so I can turn the switch/give power to it remotely by wifi) then will it also kick in and heat when "switched on"?

Just to be clear.. the stove won't have power and then it will have power - I am just curious if it will then start heating (if I set it to thermostat mode) on its on or it won't unless I am physically switch the stove on?

Your overthinking it. Just program the thermostat for the Temp you want. Start the Stove. Fancy won't be any savings I bet. I run my Harmon at 70f on Manual. It just heats just fine without any more Electronics. It would shut off if I left it in AUTO. I don't like to waste electricity for the Igniter or use it that often.

I should have mentioned but the it will be installed in a n off grid cabin so I cannot leave it on to heat. I go there every other weekend. I am going to install a hotspot (takes almost no power) and an IR blaster (almost no power) and have them run off battery. Then I can remotely switch on stove by using IR blaster which will mimic the remote.

you will still have to push the start button

As Sskyo said you will have to hit the start button the remote will not start the stove
From the manual
Remote ControlThe HP41 comes with a convenient remote control, allowing you to adjust settings and control the stove's operation from up to a 10'distance. This feature offers enhanced convenience and ease of use, putting control at your fingertips without the need to approach the stove

That is fine. I think the IR blaster will be able to mimic the remote and switch in on remotely. I am going to leave a smartphone there as well so I can take over smartphone remotely and switch on camera to see if it switched on..
