Whitefield pellet stove. Is it too big for my cabin? What is the btu rating on low?? Any advice would be appreciated.

I bought a used whitefield pellet stove. Its an advantage II-t. I have a small cabin that’s about 600 square feet. After buying it i began to wonder if its btu rating will be too high even on low! I got a good deal on the stove. Can easily sell it for what I paid and can get something smaller if necessary. Any help would be appreciated

The saying is buy a stove with more BTUs than you think you need .
It is easier to turn a stove up in cold weather than get more heat from a MAXED out stove
If you find your stove gets the room too hot you can turn it off or put it on a thermostat

Johneh thanks for the reply! And i want to get a thermostat for sure!! This stove has a hookup on the back for a thermostat. How does it work ? Does it stop the auger briefly?? Or turn stove off?? This is my first pellet stove and I am still in the learning phase

First off what model is your stove ?

Here is a Manual
suggest you read it and follow the insulation and Matiance instructions
This will help you understand your stove and how it works
