Apologies if this is a recycled topic I tried several search opt But didn’t find any solid suggestions,

We are still researching options for new stoves, but in the meantime one of the stoves we currently have was damaged when family members were trying to get the stove going.

The door glass broke. It’s an unknown stove brand. Flat panel house shaped (peaked top).

I have measured everything. Going online I quickly find “onedayglass” but wondering if it’s a decent place or if I should keep looking, or if anyone else knows a reputable place.

Thanks

schott glass used to to do the ceramic glass years ago but i think they stopped offering it?

you need pyroceramic glass - as they indeed supply (too).

I would go for it. They'll likely all have the same glass supply, and it's only the cutting that different stores do.
That's not rocket science.

The trick is to have the proper measurements. Don't forget to also get gaskets (for between door frame and glass), and screws and clips if the old ones are in poor shape.

Searching, I see that begreen also suggested onedayglass:

Can you post a picture of the stove so that we might be able to identify it? That might speed up things if the exact glass is in stock.

I've used One Day Glass.

Very happy.

Caveat * measure twice* ;)

Just an update. I ordered right after my last response (Tuesday, I believe). Paid for expedited shipping.

They shipped it Thursday. It didn’t show up yesterday nor today. It’s got an estimated delivery date of Monday.

So I wasted money on expedited shipping. Hopefully the glass is cur to the right size and decent quality. I’m going to attempt to contact them Monday to get the expedited shipping fee reimbursement.

And for informational purposes, the actual company is “peninsula glass”.

With the Christmas rush, a lot of shipping falls behind. It has gotten much worse as the volume of online shopping grows.

Made worse by the gutting of the USPS. Priority Mail these days means nothing. All of our priority mail packages are now at least 6 days for delivery. This is not just during the holidays, it has happened twice, earlier this year in March and again in September.

I got a $25 credit from Temu because things didn't arrive in time.

I see funky solar lights in my future ;)

Can ceramglass be trimmed after it’s received?

We got the glass last night. It was cut wrong. The peak was set too long.

I checked my screen shot to see if it was my error. It wasn’t.

Im really discouraged.

Can’t find any glass places open today. Half the house is freezing. Space heaters aren’t doing the job.

Sorry for the griping.

i doubt u can trim the glass?
But u can probably put a piece of metal in the opening the glass goes in. That's what i'd do if i needed to run the stove.

I have found online that it can be trimmed/cut with a wet cutting process similar to cutting ceramic tiles. None of the glass places near us do wet cutting.

No place around us can cut metal plates, they have to be ordered online.

Im desperately considering getting a 40 dollar wet cutting machine from harbor freight tools with a diamond blade and trying to trim it myself.

Before you work with a cheap HF wet saw, check that the saw is not wobbling (mounted not perfectly perpendicular to its axis) - mine was, and the result is *always* a break at the very end of your cut.

A retired glazier here...
I always asked customers to bring in the shards so we can assemble it like a puzzle to make a pattern from.
Plan B is to use a piece of stiff cardboard and make fit properly.
If it is too big, let the shop grind it. They use a large wet upright sander.
If it is too small, try to shim it up to fit.

Its in the shape of a house silhouette and they cut it with the peak almost an inch too high.

I was hoping a wet cut tile cutter (with diamond blade) will be able to trim the excess.

Yes, many larger, good glass shops stock and can cut ceramic glass. Ask first.

An angle grinder can easily cut a metal piece to fit.
