Where to buy a baffle gasket, or should I make one?

I have a Pacific Energy Summit fireplace insert with type B baffle gasket. All the online dealers are now saying they aren't allowed to sell the product online. In store only. Any thoughts on where to buy a gasket? Or, has anyone bought high temp gasket sheets and made their own? thanks!

There was only one authorized dealer for online sale of PE products in the US. That was thechimneysweep.com run by Tom Oyen who was the intial sales point for PE products in the US. Very sadly, he died a couple of years ago and that ended US online sales. Now all PE parts in the US must come from a PE dealership. In Canada, parts can be bought via FriendlyFires online. It's a bummer, especially for rural customers and people that live a long distance from the nearest PE dealer. Tom was a great person to work with and ran a great shop in Bellingham, WA as well as a very respectable online store. We miss him.

I wish PE would remedy this loss. It affects a lot of owners. We need a new US online presence for PE parts. A few of us have made our own baffle gasket out of 3/8" gasket rope or out of 1/8" ceramic fiber sheet. The latter requires a very sharp cutting too for clean, precise cuts and there is a lot of wasteage.

Thanks. Can you tell me how to place the gasket rope? Or show me a photo?
You'll need about 16" to 18" of 3/8" rope gasket.
12" of this will be the actual gasket, the rest you will leave evenly extra on each end, to use to braid/tie the two ends together.

Can't you call a dealer, and have them ship you parts?

Woody, dealers are saying they are not allowed to sell this part online. In store only. A nearby distributor doesn't sell to individuals, only to dealers. A local company that sells and installs Pacific Energy stoves will not sell me the part unless they come and install it.

I've got a T5 at my SIL's house. What am I gonna do if I need a baffle or something? I don't think she will like paying a dealer to come from 1.5 hours away, plus paying labor to do a simple install job. I could end up looking like I made a bad decision, convincing her to buy the PE.
Maybe a dealer could be "presuaded" to work with me.. 😏

It takes a lot of neglect to damage a baffle. Usually this would the result of several seasons of overfiring or burning saltwater driftwood. The baffle is unlikely to need replacement unless damaged by an experimenting hubby or BIL ;). In that case one can pick up the part at the dealer and pop it in. That is what our local PE dealers do. I have not heard of a dealer restricting sales to having them come out, which is ridiculous, especially for annual cleanings.

I'd contact PE support and have that dealer spoken to by them. That is an absurd policy, especially for wearables like the baffle gasket and side-rail baffle insulation.

At the suggestion of a member I searched the web for a source of bulk ceramic insulation for sides of baffle and rectangular air supply “tube” that keys into baffle. Later was a sheet of material about 4”x 8”. Worked great. Air tube gasket much more robust than that supplied by PE.
Bought special blade to cut ceramic and very not to breath fibers, protected eyes, wore gloves and washed arms after.

I have been buying baffle gaskets here. The shipping on the gaskets is high, so I buy several at a time. That makes it worth buying online rather than spending 1.5 hours driving. They have other PE parts as well.

The gaskets I have purchased from them seem to be tougher and hold together better than the OEM gasket that came with my stove.

I can tell they seal well, because the little shiny rectangle around my baffle air inlet is the only shiny part left on the baffle.
