I have quadrafire fireplace insert, 25 foot exterior brick chimney with a 6" SS liner with a cap on top. Been burning wood for 4-5 years and never saw this before. Up until about two weeks ago I had to shovel the ash out of the insert every 2 or 3 days. Since then, there is very little ash in my stove every morning. I assume it is going out the chimney which is not a problem, but I don't want it creating another problem. I cleaned the chimney right before the burning season started and got my usual amount of soot out of the chimney. Is this something to worry about or just enjoy not having to clean up ashes???
