When will everybody pull the trigger this year? It's been so hot here and wii be glad to see the fall season come around, I will pull the trigger in late november I guess, not in no big hurry to start .

Probably late September or early October, November would be awesome but very unlikely.

I hope i can wait that long, when i got my first wood stove my wife thought i went insane i was burning in september and my first year of burning i wasted alot wood big learning curve.

We start end of September/early October pretty consistently.

When it gets cold.

Past two years have been October 15. I am hoping to make it a bit later into October this year. Halloween would be a wonderful time to see the orange glow from the new F600!

August! I need to burn-in the Englander 30 before dragging it into the house.

Burn for heating - likely mid October.

Bill

I see that Remkel and Rdust have new heaters for the upcoming season hope they serve you guys well, On those long cold nights

As long as we have a normal winter, I'll be happy. The last two have been abnormally cold. Last winter we went through a two month stretch where we were consistently 10-15° below average temps.

Last winter was brutal with the cold, and a new second stove. Way more prepared going into this year.

I'm gonna hold off as long as possible. Probably Novenber, unless October pulls a fast one.

I try to make it to November every year and it doesn't happen.

You could probably put together some kind of search here. Starting in September there are daily posts of "I started burning tonight." and most of the posts until late October.

Well, except for "Newbie here. I cut this wood September 6th and there is smoke in my living room. This EPA stove is a piece of crap. My grandpa used to do it this way.".

BB, burning here in October does not count. One has to check the chimney :)

This is the one I look forward to the most. :-) That and "the old stove worked fine with the same chimney".

Ditto.

Guys that own their own wood company don't count.

I could start now to be honest. My boiler has been running for a few hours every morning for the last week or so. Been in the mid 40s at night and only in the low 60s at best during the day.

When that happens here, I am setting fire to something.

Don't have a boiler. Or anything other than the stoves. If I had the other stuff I would probably just let it run for a while.

3 deg above freezing this am and snow on the high mountain tops. Lit the stove before heading to work to keep the chill off for the family.
Gonna be a regular event by Mid august this year for sure.

Have to say this depends on the year. We can have really nice October's here - or not. Heat pump usually comes back into action sometime in late Sept. It carries the load until we start regularly dropping into the 40's. So I would say late October as a typical scenario, but it varies. But if we don't break out of spring temps who knows, we may be burning in a few weeks.

Probably mid october unless we start getting the "cool" fall rains in sept.......................

Sept may be cold here at times but on principle, I won't start burning until Oct 1. Once that date comes I don't care if I have to burn 24/7 into May, but I'll be damned to put a stick of wood into that stove in June! 4 months of off feels like an awful short summer.

I lit mine for the first time last Saturday evening... August in Newfoundland... so sad. It got down to only +8C. So I guess my burning season has already started.
