Had the Blaze king 40 for 2 seasons now and love it. Getting ready for its first inside cleaning.

BTW any tips and tricks for cleaning out the blaze king? THANK YOU for all the help over the last couple years!

also came across a wood product called volunteer wood brick from menards, is it ok to burn in this stove? Thanx

If there is only sawdust in the bricks, it should be fine. Any additions (was or whatever), don't use them.

For a end of season clean outI run a full load at wide open throttle to crisp up the gunk inside the firebox. Then I use a metal brush to brush all metal parts inside (including behind the metal shields on the walls), and shovel out ashes and the brushings.
Then in my case I take off the stove pipe, cap the hole in the stove and the thimble and put in a can of damprid.

If you're asking about cleaning ashes out during the season, I do that when there are enough coals in there to keep a draft going. I use a metal kitty litter poop scoop to sift ashes from the coals, pile the coals in the back, scoop the ashes out. The draft due to the hot coals help suck in any ash that flies around keeping your room clean.

Ashes go in a metal bucket with a lid, and immediately outside on pavers 20 ft away from fence and home. They stay there for a day or two before they get transferred to a large metal trashcan with lid where I collect all ashes of a season to be used later in the yard.
